BC stands for bladder control.

    BC is not incontinence.

BC is overcoming obstacles and taking control of your life.

There are five types of incontinence that can lead to BC challenges:

  1. Urinary Retention: the inability to release urine from the bladder. Urinary retention frequently occurs in men with brain, spinal cord or nervous system injury or disease. Many men who have urinary retention can use an intermittent catheter to manually release the urine from the bladder.
  2. Stress Incontinence: a sudden loss of urine often associated with exertion such as lifting or movement. Stress Incontinence is a frequent complication (10%) of surgery for prostate cancer. In the U.S. each year, 184,000 men have prostate surgery. Liberty comes with a small collection bag, perfect for preventing wetness for men who are diagnosed with Stress Incontinence.
  3. Total Incontinence: a complete loss of urine control often associated with spinal cord or nervous system injury or disease. Liberty is a preferred method of bladder control for men living with these diagnoses because it keeps them dry and comfortable—all day, every day.
  4. Mixed Incontinence: combines stress incontinence and urinary retention. Traditionally found in patients with neuromuscular injury or disease. Liberty works well for this type of incontinence, as the device allows for intermittent catheterization while the device is in place.
  5. Functional Incontinence: the inability to reach a bathroom or to communicate the need to urinate. Stroke survivors, the elderly and workers in fixed duty stations including pilots, astronauts, and racecar drivers may all face functional incontinence. NASA adopted Liberty for manned space-flight missions.
